Our site and farming practice

Situated in the Umpqua Valley AVA of Oregon, Freed Estate Winery rests on a gravelly shelf in one of the tranquil valleys of the South Umpqua River.


Freed Estate Winery enjoys a unique location that straddles the edge of coastal influence. With warm days and cool nights, our 12 hand-tended acres thrive, producing exceptional Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Viognier.


We prioritize quality over quantity, embracing low-yield farming and biodynamic principles like herbicide-free cultivation, sheep grazing, and minimal soil disturbance.  We are dry-farmed and completely hand-tended from planting to picking.
